Topografías Mentales
This is a drawn narrative that explores elements of the natural environment by encoding them to produce visible interpretations through drawing. These interpretations reveal another place unrecognizable, strange, and impossible to integrate into our human landscapes.
The series consists of 40 graphite drawings on paper, each approximately 6.9 by 7.9 inches. Working within this intimate format, I create visual fragments that suggest unfamiliar geographies. The drawings hover between abstraction and memory, proposing landscapes that resist identification and challenge our perception of space. Rather than representing a specific location, these works translate an experience of natural space, where observation blends with invention. The resulting images evoke erosion, distortion, and displacement, as if nature itself has been transformed into something alien and distant.
Topografías Mentales invites the viewer to encounter a fractured territory one that cannot be mapped or assimilated into familiar environments. It is a reflection on the fragile boundary between what is known and what remains elusive, rendered through the delicate and persistent marks of graphite on paper.
